The Deldossi Group complies with the most recent regulations about seismic materials for prefabricated and traditional buildings. Indeed, we propose the construction of anti-seismic buildings and factories. We can also provide for the seismic improvement of existing buildings. We do the seismic retrofitting of every part of the building so that to improve its stability, which can diminish over time because of the deterioration of materials. Before doing the seismic retrofitting of a building or a factory, we carefully study its characteristics and prepare an ad hoc anti-seismic design, by using iron frameworks which are placed side by side to the preexisting structures and reinforce them from the inside.

Alternatively, if positioned on the outside, they become a sort of "second skin" for the building. This guarantee the necessary resistance to potential seismic phenomena. Our technicians will determine which is the best solution for your company, in accordance with the current regulations.

Preventing the seismic risk: an obligation of employers
Companies must carefully assess all the obligations that regards health protection and safety at work. We also have to do a specific evaluation of the risks of a potential seismic event, as required by the Italian regulation:
  • the "Consolidated Act on Occupational Health and Safety" – articles 17, 28 and 29 of Legislative Decree 81/2008;
  • Article 2087 of the Civil Code.
The law requires the employer to "Adopt those measures that, according to the type of work, the experience and the technique, are necessary to protect workers' physical integrity" (article 2087 Civil Code).
A company must also have a suitable Emergency and Evacuation Plan.

Why it is important to work on certain specific points of an industrial building:
Assessing the risk and anti-seismic work on a building are indispensable to protect the safety. The points of highest risk are:
  • beams and pillars;
  • pillars and industrial floors;
  • covering elements and beams;
  • infill panels and pillars;
  • bracing of shelving in contact with the main structures.
Prefabricated industrial factories have an especially relevant risk assessment. Buildings not constructed with anti-seismic criteria are highly vulnerable. Deldossi always keeps pace with the regulations that govern this sector.

Approval procedures for new projects and renovations for Brescia and province:
Since April 10, 2016 in 52 municipalities in the province of Brescia, it is compulsory to ask for the authorization of the Municipality for every new construction or renovation. In Brescia and in many municipalities of the areas of Garda and Valsabbia, the submitted plans must include anti-seismic works, otherwise it won't be possible to start building. The Province of Brescia decided it with a resolution of September 29, 2015. The 52 municipalities involved were, in fact, classified as high seismic risk zones.

Seismic retrofitting design for a prefabricated gym through installation of an external structure
Nelle immagini presenti sono mostrati i passaggi necessari per l'installazione della struttura metallica che andrà a sostenere lo scheletro dell'edificio. Modi e punti di inserimento dei nuovi innesti devono seguire precisi passaggi, derivanti da analisi e verifiche sulla precedente struttura. Se così non fosse potrebbero verificarsi dei danni, poiché l'edificio deve rimanere sempre stabile durante tutto il processo di adeguamento e non presentare punti di vuoto strutturale.
Example of seismic improvement to a factory
Below is some seismic improvement works we did on the structure of an office building. In the meanwhile, the company kept working: our work didn't interrupt them. The main interventions:
  • Connection of the building's prefabricated sandwich panels to the supporting structure, to prevent them from collapsing in case the non-anti-seismic connections cave in during the earthquake.
  • Connection of the building's prefabricated plates to the elements cast-in-place, to ensure that the seismic waves propagate in the deck to the originally designed earthquake-resistant elements.
  • Improvement of the central beams at the torques induced by the earthquake.
